About This Project

This project was crucial to NZ Ski who wanted to provide the highest standard in New Zealand’s sporting and tourism facilities. The project involved the demolition of the existing building to allow for a major expansion, the installation of three water storage reservoirs and 143 fully automated state-of-the-art snow making guns.

Unique Aspects

Building at an altitude of 1200m meant that construction was subjected to extreme weather conditions including high winds, snow flurries and ice build up. Delivery within a tight time frame allowed the ski field to be ready for opening of the season. A total investment of just under $30 million completed in seven months and seven days. Building on DOC land required extensive consultation. Arrow worked closely with NZSki to achieve what too many seemed an impossible task. The outcome is testament to what can be achieved with the right attitude, clear goals and a high level of cooperation, communication and planning.

The ‘buy-in’ to the programme was a result of Arrow’s leadership and unwavering belief that the project could be delivered in the extremely tight time frame. At no stage did Arrow doubt their ability to deliver the project on time and this instilled confidence and trust in us as the client."
