About This Project

Creating Communities is a joint venture led by Arrows development management and residential construction teams to build new homes on previous Housing New Zealand sites in Northern Glen Innes. Arrow has provided development management, feasibility and funding expertise and the design and build delivery of the project. When completed, the project will effectively have redeveloped 156 properties into more than 350 new homes, 78 of which will be social housing owned by Housing New Zealand, at least 39 owned by other social or community housing providers, and the remainder for private sale.

Unique Aspects

This mixed tenure and medium density project is the largest of its kind to be undertaken in New Zealand to date. The project aims to build on strengths of the community that exists in Glen Innes, encouraging new opportunities, and enhancing a greater sense of community pride and belonging. The focus is on creating intelligently designed homes that are responsive to their environment and a foundation for healthy families and vibrant diverse communities.

The thing I’m most proud of is the opportunity to be involved in reinvigorating and revitalising this community. That’s what I’m most excited about. It’s a real opportunity to work with this proud suburb and make it stronger. The focus is on how we use the buildings to reinforce and strengthen the community rather than just seeing how many houses we can get on site."
