All in a days work
Michael Bowman volunteers to be bolted inside an airtight room (with a dive tank for oxygen) to pressure test what will become Plant & Food Research’s new PC3 laboratory.
Plant & Food Research is a New Zealand-based science company providing research and development that adds value to fruit, vegetable, crop and food products. Arrow are currently undertaking the upgrade of two major buildings at their campus in Mt Albert.
The 5000m² seven-storey Hamilton Building is being fully refurbished from the top-down, including the extensive removal of asbestos, full roof replacement and complete replacement of the building facade. The interior fitout will convert four floors into state of the art PC2 laboratories, and three floors into open plan office spaces, including meeting rooms and breakout spaces. The PC3 laboratory (pictured) is also located within the building.
The Cunningham building was seismically strengthened to 100% of NBS by running reinforcing steel vertically from the basement, through each floor slab to connect with the roof, and then the internal face of all external walls were sprayed with up to 200mm of concrete.
