Central Wellington apartments ready for business
On 22 April the first guests arrived at the brand new $15M Boulcott Conference Suites and Apartments. The mixed use building in the central city has been built on a car park that was between St Mary of the Angels Church and the St George Hotel.
“The site was particularly challenging in terms of access and servicing on what must be one of Wellington’s busiest street corners” says Robb Noble, Project Director, and with several other building sites up the road, at times it resembled more of a war zone than a building site! However the projects success is due to the support of a great Design Team, in particular Huw Parslow of Archaus Architects and wonderful clients Mike & Gay O’Sullivan represented by Melissa Ridley”.
This is the fourth apartment building built by Arrow’s Wellington team in as many years with experience paying dividends for the team.
“While there have been a number of challenges and tight timeframes with this project, Arrow have been very responsive to work with. I believe we have achieved an aesthetically pleasing building which compliments the surrounding environment that the whole team should be proud of” says Melissa Ridley.
The building attracted some great comments as the scaffolding and scrim came down to expose an impressive façade of exposed precast concrete and zinc cladding combined with glass and cedar balconies.
Six of its eight levels will be used for serviced apartments, with two three-bedroom penthouses on top. The ground floor will have 250 square metres of restaurant space, and the first level will have conference facilities that can cater for up to 110 people.
The project is being built by Boulcott Village Properties which is spearheaded by Mike O’Sullivan, and the company owns apartments behind the new site.
