About This Project

NZ Police engaged Arrow to provide full project management and construction services for a new station at Beckenham. Arrow facilitated the development of the client brief, formed and chaired the Project Control Group, consultation and coordination with the user group representatives, led the design process, obtained NZ Police approvals of the design and budget, procured trade contractors and managed construction of the new station on site.

To ensure knowledge gained at the front end of the project flowed through to the construction phase, Arrow provided full time on site construction management services.

The 1600m² two storey police station combines two existing Southern Area stations into one location. The new station includes interview rooms, office areas along with staff facilities and amenities for a total of 78 staff.

Unique Aspects

Although not officially a Greenstar accredited building, a number of Environmentally Sustainable Design (ESD) initiatives have been incorporated into the project, which provides NZ Police with a building equivalent to a 4 star rating.

The building has been designed to a structural rating of Importance Level 4 which enables the station to remain fully operational for 72 hours in a post disaster situation, to provide essential services and refuge.
