Canterbury District Health Board
Construction of a new 3,000m² Integrated Health Facility and demolition of the existing dilapidated facility. The new facility provides primary, aged, acute and maternity care, radiology services and trauma stabilisation. Parts of the existing hospital were over 100 years old, making it the oldest health facility in use in Canterbury.
Staged construction approach to allow the existing hospital to remain fully operational. Significant stakeholder interest. Meeting the medical requirements, including lead-lined x-ray rooms and the multitude of electrics and medical gases needed for each and every bed and room. The remoteness of the site has meant that all sub-contractors and materials have had to be brought in from other parts of the country.
