About This Project

On the back of a number of successful previous projects with the Salvation Army in Wellington, Arrow were engaged to convert the former Destiny Church Complex at Mt Wellington into a new worship hall and headquarters for the Auckland Corps. Works included a new roof, services, lift, creation of two new auditoria, reception, offices, social & dining areas, kitchen, storage and early Childhood Education Centre.

Unique Aspects

As the Salvation Army had already relinquished the lease on their existing headquarters in Auckland’s CBD, the project had to be delivered to a very tight three month programme. To meet their move in date, the work was broken into three separate packages. The first stage (auditoria, reception, offices, social & dining areas) was handed over June. Stage 2 – a second, smaller corps for the Korean congregation and some exterior works and retaining walls – was handed over a month later. The third and final stage – an early Childhood Centre – was handed over a month later. Managing the stage 2 and 3 works while the building was fully operational required careful planning.
