The JUCY Snooze development is the first facility in New Zealand to provide pod sleeping spaces. The 144 pods are located within the eighteen dorm rooms which surround the common area space.
Arrow worked with JUCY to maximise the useable areas by providing the option of creating two additional double rooms on the first floor.
The buildings consist of varying types of structural form including precast concrete walls to ground level, light-weight braced timber framed walls to first floor and single storey areas and a portal framed structure to the common area.
Building services wise the building utilises exterior gas califonts to heat the water, vessels located within the building to store the hot water and pumped reticulation lines to circulate the water. All the rooms are accessed via the latest technology utilising the guest’s personal smart phone. Further security systems includes CCTV coverage of the interior and exterior spaces.
Arrow has also been heavily involved in the tenant fitout works assisting JUCY through the process and undertaking some of the fitout works on site.
Through Arrow’s continual value engineering process and testing of the client and tenant brief Arrow has managed to make significant savings to the GMP budget to the benefit of both CIAL and JUCY.
The project will be completed one month ahead of programme.
